By Land

• Take the N1 highway north towards Pietersburg, by-passing Pretoria to the east


• At the Kranskop Toll Plaza, drive through the extreme left hand exit, and take the off-ramp to the left, which indicates Modimolle (previously Nylstroom). This is the R33 Please phone the lodge (014 755-4951) when you are at the Kranskop offramp so that they can meet you on time at the main gate of Welgevonden.


• Drive on through Modimolle, towards Vaalwater, staying on the R33 all the time Vaalwater is the last place to do any emergency shopping. We suggest the Spar shop at the Total garage after you have driven through the town. Proceed through Vaalwater on the R33


• Continue on the R 33 for 25km. (In town, do not turn right to Ellisras!) You will drive past the small “East Gate” to Welgevonden on this road. Do not turn here.


• After approximately 25km, on the left, is a large entrance gate, signposted “Welgevonden Main Gate” which is where you enter the game reserve


• At the main gate, each person will be asked to fill out indemnity forms. One form has to be filled out for each person in the car, parents sign for children. You will be staying at Tsheshepe Lodge (site number 11). The Reserve entry and park fee cost is R105 person per night. This will be billed to your account for this cost. Please ask our guide to stamp those forms otherwise you can’t exit.


• There are restrooms at the main gate, once you are inside.


• Your vehicle will be parked in a secure area at the entrance and you will drive on to Tsheshepe in our open 4x4 vehicle, so have a jersey or jacket close to hand. No private cars are allowed in Welgevonden.
